Sentinel Crash Protected Recorders

The Etep Sentinel ED-112 is a lightweight and compact Flight Data Recorder and Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) which follows the specification of ARINC 767 (Enhanced Airborne Flight Recorder) providing combination of Cockpit Voice Recording (CVR), Flight Data Recording (FDR), Airborne Image Recording (AIR) and Data Link Recording (DLR) in a fully integrated solution.

Product Description

The Etep Sentinel ED-112 is a lightweight and compact Flight Data Recorder and Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) which follows the specification of ARINC 767 (Enhanced Airborne Flight Recorder) providing combination of Cockpit Voice Recording (CVR), Flight Data Recording (FDR), Airborne Image Recording (AIR) and Data Link Recording (DLR) in a fully integrated solution.

This system is suitable for flight test installation or military aviation (helicopters and fixed-wing aircrafts) which needs a powerful system that is low cost, lightweight and compact size.

The Sentinel unit, being one of the smallest Flight Data Recorder in the market, has the most advanced design for all types of data collection (Data, Audio, Image) with an incremental recording capacity, that covers all the needs of “ED-112 Standard” from EUROCAE.

The Sentinel Advantages

  • The smallest Flight Data Recorder and Data Acquisition Unit helps to increase the amount of available space in the aircraft
  • Lightweight (A combination of Flight Recorder and a Data Acquisition System with a weight of less than 8.0lbs – 3.62Kg)
  • Flexible design to adapt to different aircraft-specific configurations (MIL-STD 1553, Video, high capacity…)
  • Quick Access Recorder (QAR) with standard fast ethernet link on the front panel
  • Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) in the same device
  • Download data via TCP/IP internal web server or FTP (BASE-T 10/100/1000)
  • HD 1080p Images/video recording capacity
  • ED-112 Crash Memory Unit Protection
  • Dual isolated power bus
  • ARINC 404A Easy Racking (Others on request)

Qualification/ Certification

Sentinel “ED-112” meets the requirements as specified in the Minimum Operational Performance Specification (MOPS) for flight recording systems ED-112. In fact, the Sentinel outperforms many of the crash survival requirements for the Crash Protected Airborne Recorder Systems ED-112.

Recorder Independent Power Supply (RIPS)

A Sentinel RIPS unit option is available to supply additional power to the Flight Data Recorder to continue to record the area microphone(s) and all other channels if total consumption does not exceed 20W for 10 +/- 1 minutes after power loss. The RIPS does not contain internal batteries and thus requires no periodic maintenance.
